Teacher of the Year makes the news!

I am so excited to share this video with you all. This is my sister and I could not be more proud of her. She is now teaching 5th grade in Washington DC and she just made the news! Great job Julia!!!

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WUSA) -- Education in D.C. has been a hot button issue in recent weeks: President Obama said he didn't think his daughters who attend private school would get the same quality education at a D.C. public school. Schools chancellor Michelle Rhee resigned.
But there are some bright lights in a troubled city like Washington. Julia King is a young woman who was recently named Teach For America's elementary school teacher of the year. She increased reading and math test scores dramatically at her former school in Indiana and now she's teaching here at DC Prep, a public charter school.
I am sure if we think hard about our years in school there will be a couple of teachers that stick out in our minds as being our favorite. I can bet you that these kids will never forget having a teacher like Ms. Julia King!
