Alex and I are driving down to Richmond today to spend Christmas with my family. I am so excited to see everyone and relax, eat good food and listen to Christmas music and see all the houses lite up on the drive down.

My best friend Eliza is in Singapore right now visiting her parents. They live there for 6 months and in the States for 6 months. Her Mom was telling me that she missed the way the States did Christmas. I said I missed the way Europe did Christmas. Less commercial, more simple, more old fashioned a little more refined. I love States side Christmas too, the excess can be very exhilarating. Its fun to see all the differences.

DIY beauty

I am in love with this wreath, I have had this image book marked for ages and I just discovered where it came from AND how to make it! I think I really want to give this craft a go. You can see full directions on the blog Pickles and you can actually buy all the felt balls from Ornamentea. I think it is so pretty that it has potential for staying up well past December!

Deck the Halls....

 

This Sunday I am going to get all the Christmas boxes from the garage and start decorating. This year I think we are going to get a real tree!!! We have a little 3 foot fake tree that we have been using for the past couple of years due to apartment living but I think this year it is time to upgrade! We might have to do a little shopping to fill a big tree!! YEAH! I can't wait. I might have to check out multiple stores to see what is out there before I commit!!! HAHA! Alex is going to love that! Have you guys decorated yet!? I did make a swag for the front door the other day...December is already going too fast for me.

Pinup Wreath

Martha came up with this idea in 2002 and I think it is fabulous. I know the blogs are buzzing that Christmas cards are a thing of the past. But, I think not. Just because family pictures are uploaded on Facebook right away does not mean there is no need to send out cards any more. Even Real Simple Magazine broached the subject. I, however don't really care. I love sending cards, I love reaching out to old friends who I don't keep in good enough tough with and I love getting cards in the mail and I love displaying them. I am totally going to rig up this idea that MS came up with. Click here for some simple directions.

Weekend in review!
Thanksgiving was a blast until every single one of us from baby to a pregnant mommy came down with a touch of Turkey Day food poisoning. Ahh, it has be a rough...alot of sleeping and chicken noodle soup. No leftovers for us!

Our block has exploded with Christmas lights and decorations. Alex and I made a little trip out to Target today to see about getting a wreath for our front door but everything was so picked thru that it was sad. We can't be the only house on the block with nothing!! Know any good places to get a pretty wreath?

I must admit I have been listening to Christmas music well before Thanksgiving! I can't wait to see everyones gift guides...I am a little clueless as to what I want to be wising for.
