Reblog this....

The weather is changing...its affecting me more than I thought. I think a lot of people are kind of going thru the same thing. Its hard to wake up in the dark and then come home and in the dark. I have been meaning to post about this for awhile. Heather from Dooce put it so well. Though, Fall is fun and brings with it scarfs, and yummy food and boots it also brings a longing for something. I think...light. Sunshine, warmth and energy that sometimes goes somewhere far away in these back months.

I am ok right now, but I know its coming. With that being said...Reblog this....thanks Blurbomat.

stay dry...

I had wet feet all day today and hated it. Hope everyone stays dry in the upcoming days. With the past earthquake ( which I missed out on...I feel a little left out. hehe) and Ms. Irene about to grace us with her presence make sure to keep your umbrella handy or hole up at home and watch movies. I am going to strive for the latter.

I had the most fabulous trip to CT. over the weekend. A little girls weekend, with a mini high school reunion (Hi Sarah), lots of amazing food, perfect weather and even better company. I spent the weekend in Stonington  with by best girls Eliza and Katie and we just did the weekend up right. On Friday we had dinner with my old friend Sarah from high school and what was so great about the whole night was that it felt like no times had passed between us. It has been about 10 years since our last get together! We might as well have been back in Brussels laughing it up like the old days. It was so fun and I look forward to our next visit. The rest of the trip was spent eating a lot, shopping and taking tons of pictures. Here are some from the trip. I love best girl friends.

I am taking a 5:00am train today up to CT. for a girls weekend! I am so excited! Katie and I are meeting up with our friend Eliza. We have a bottle of champagne, orange juice, fresh strawberries and a loaf of peach bread to get us thru the trip, its the best way to travel. Have a great weekend. Till Monday!

Bad me...

I have been such a bad blogger as of late. Sorry about that. Truth be told I was having too much fun over the weekend. For the first time in ages, I had Saturday, Sunday and Monday off!!! (I work in special events...this never happens to me) It was like I was given the best gift in the whole entire world....some free time. Alex and I just had so much fun sweating our brains off in the 90 degree weather...I am serious. We don't have central air. Do you guys have any thoughts on portable air units? We went to the movies, had dinner out side in town, went down to AC for some shopping (It was a great visit...I got some really excellent things from J Crew), had a BBQ with some family, took a million showers. I took some naps and we went to Terrain...(MY favorite store ever and had lunch there.

So, I dropped my blackberry on Friday and the screen went write and then died. I was so so sad. But, the next day I went and got the iphone! Very exciting, surfing the Internet is amazing, its so fast. I still need to figure everything out and get used to the keyboard but so far I like it! Can you all tell me which aps I need to get!!

Hope everyone had a nice loooonnng weekend! xo

New York, New York...

Sunday, Alex and I took the bus up to New York City to spend the day with our friends Crystal and Kramer. I don't think I could have dreamed up a better day. Our first stop was to the Javits Center were we checked out the International Contemporary Furniture Show which was amazing and made me drool over all the beautiful works of art...I always say if I won the lottery I would spend all the money on furniture.
We then headed to The Chelsea Market and had the most amazing Farm to Table meal I have ever tasted at The Green Table...I swear if you live in NYC you need to go here. Then we headed over to Pier 62 and boarded the teak decks of the Manhattan, a 1920's style yacht for an AIA  architecture tour of city. The tour was about 3 hours and we were treated to endless champagne, a cheese plate, fresh fruit and desserts. I don't think I could have enjoyed myself anymore. I was so relaxed and happy. The tour was amazing and I ended up just chilling most of the trip and not talking too many pictures.

Sometimes, I feel that I work so much that I miss out on a lot of fun...but I realized that even though I was exhausted I needed to make time for adventures like this. Thank you Crystal for making this happen.

Here are some pictures from Sunday.

JHW

My Grandfather passed away last morning and though we have been expecting this for some time my heart still breaks mostly for my mom. She is now parent-less and as she put it... an orphan. My Poppa John was just a kind soul and lived a life of no regrets. He will be greatly missed, was much loved and will never be forgotten.

The Sweetest Blogger Award

Alena, from Oh, Its Just Perfect tagged me for "the sweetest blog" award. With the acceptance of the award I will now pass along seven facts about myself.

1. I went to school for Interior Design and did commercial design for five years. I met my husband Alex at work. He too is a Designer. I now do Event Planning for a Catering Company and Event Management. I have done a complete career change and am very happy. I have someone of a Cinderella story in the sense that I worked my way up from the very bottom. My ID background helps me out every day. My boss/co-worker/friend from the first Internship I had at an event planning company has taught me that if you have the desire to learn something new you can do anything. She helped me get where I am today and I am eternally grateful!

2. I talk about food and special events all day long but have no interest in cooking and I can't stand touching raw meat.

3. I often listen more than talk.

4. I grew up in Brussels, Belgium and moved back to the States for College. I studied abroad in London and know Brussels and London's public transportation system better than I know the street of Philadelphia.

 5. Breakfast for dinner is my favorite meal and oatmeal is my favorite Breakfast. I need to make it more. I love small bite size often kid targeted food and I crave sit down dinners with my family and friends. Nothing is better than good food, wine, company and conversation!

6. Only when I go the the gym in the morning do I ever leave the house without mascara. Sometimes, I put some on to feel more awake.  I wear at least 3, sometimes 4 different kinds at a time. My best friend Eliza showed me this years ago and I will never look back.

7. One of my biggest fears is being somewhere and thirsty. I always carry water with me, usually Smart Water. I really love the way it tastes. For the past three years I have avoided Coffee. My skin does better without it. But, for some reason in the past two weeks I have been craving and drinking coffee. I had one good cup  and keeping trying to get back to that taste. I have not had that same taste yet so I think I will stop trying. It makes me crazy anyway.

Thanks Alena for letting me Play this fun game. I now tag
Crystal from Invite the Unexpected...she needs to get back to blogging because she knows too many wonderful things not to.
AND
Jennifer from Jennifer Nicole... my Chicago blog friend

Enjoy my friends.
