being little

Design Crush posted this image the other day and it made me think of my childhood. I remember taking blankets and sleeping bags and sliding down the wooden front stairs over and over again. Man, I would never dream of doing something like that now. I would be bruised and broken for days. But, oh what fun we had! Ohhh Childhood! What crazy things did you do as a kid?

An Afternoon WITH....

Michael Mundy started a blog/project about people and the spaces they live in. This is Martynka, and this is where she lives.
Martynka Wawrzyniak is a visual artist. She is also a book editor for Rizzoli. Her work can be found at www.martynka.com. Shot at her apartment in Downtown NYC.

I like being able to see into these homes, un-staged with them just living. Not perfect, just what it is.

morning routine

Sometimes, when I think about getting ready in the morning I say to myself...Ahh, I wish I could just roll out of bed and get in the car and go. Taking a shower, moisturizing, hair, make up and picking out what to wear just takes too much time. I then start my routine and remind myself that I actually enjoy the process and thank god I did not walk out that front door with no make up on. I feel like I am still asleep with out mascara. Do any of you guys feel that way too?

Your new best friend...

See that little knife thinger sticking up...well that baby is a Bride to be's best friend.  When all those registry gift start showing up on your door step that little knife is the best tool ever to open those boxes. Its not too sharp and very short so there is no real fear of possibly damaging what might be inside the box or cutting your self. Trust me on this one, or just try it out for yourself. You can thank me later brides and grooms to be. Isn't getting mail so fun!

young love

The other day when I was walking back to my car from the gym I was lucky enough to witness some pure young, I am guessing high school love. There was this young girl walking in front of me and her car happened to be parked 2 cars from mine. Well, waiting for her at her car was I am guessing her boyfriend with a bouquet of flowers. She saw him, screamed, "AHHHH, I hate you" and then give him the biggest hug ever. I think the boyfriend had been their for a long while because right after they hugged she then screamed " OH My GOD!!! HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN HERE?" He, was all cute and said for a while, I had to find your car!! His buddy then popped up and said, Yeah, we had to look for a long time.

It was so cute, and young and made me smile for a long time. Maybe he was trying to make it up to her after a fight?

Before

Hi all, here are 3 before shots of the new house. The first two are of the living room dinning room area and the last shot is of the master bedroom. Aren't all the windows amazing. Nature is everywhere. So much so that it startles me a little bit. The other day I was coming of the drive way and there were like 20 birds  and I was like...ahh nature...I am mean is that normal, all those birds? I, also think we might have a skunk as a neighbor! Alex is all like, "watch out mr. skunk...this is MY house now...I am gonna run you out!" Well, maybe he was not so nice, but you get the picture.

We have about 98% of all the boxes un-packed. There are about 10 boxes that I can't deal with right now, so the got banned to the basement. The basement is scary but we have a brand new washer and dryer down there so I just deal with it. If it were not for my family we would be no way near this far along. So, THANKS...Mom, Dad, Ben, Alena, Julia and Sam. You all made this happen!!

Sorry for the light posting. I will show some mid-after shots tomorrow.

have a good one...

Have a great weekend everyone. My family is on their way up from down south to help Alex and me get this move done and over with. I really would rather be at the lake sunning on a dock with a good book. See you on Monday. I can't wait to get everything just so and be settled. Hugs. C.

Prints

Such well put posters... I hope everyone had a nice weekend. The big move happens this weekend. I am ready to get it all done. My entire family is coming to help and my Mom said that we should just get it done real quick and then party! That is the plan.

I keep on procrastinating on packing up the kitchen...ahh...too many dishes.

On Sunday, I met up with some old dear friends who used to be neighbors but moved to Canada...they now have two boys and they are so cute that I could eat them right up. We just had to most wonderful breakfast together and openly dreamed about living close to each other again. Their flight home got delayed so I sent them real estate links and an article on why they should move to my new neighborhood. Old friends are the best. Hanging out with them, just really and truly warmed my heart.

I hope you all had a nice weekend...have a nice Monday!

hi, hello, bonjour

Hi friends, so sorry for the light posting last week. With my birthday, a new house and a trip to the beach I really was not around my computer that much. I am back and have missed you all.

Alex and I went to Atlantic City, our old home for my birthday and stayed at the boutique ( meaning no casino in it) hotel The Chelsea. It was wonderful. The design is excellent and the bed was hard to get out of. We spent the day on the beach, went out to dinner at my favorite restaurant Girasole. They have the best pizza on the East Coast there. It is most like real Naples pizza. I get it every time I go there. We met up with some friends and did a little shopping. We are not gamblers, but just love AC. We love the salty air and it always feels like we are "home" there. Poor AC is really down in the dumpster with this recession but we love its frantic ol' self anyway.

We spent the weekend back and forth to the new house and cleaned every inch of it till it sparkled. I tried to channel my grandmother the whole time. She was the queen of clean and I really thought about her the whole time.  The new house has no AC so it was a pretty dirty/sweaty job but it is now done.

Have you guys heard of Pinterest? It is my new favorite computer thing. Basically you can "pin" things that you find on line to one central location. You create a visual collection of things that you love and you can share you finds with everyone and see what other members like. You can check out my finds here.
